Cursor Convo Export: export your Cursor conversations to a new window or file

Cursor Convo Export: export your conversations with AI

While working with Cursor to code my own products, I wished there was a simple extension that allowed me to save a conversation with my AI buddy.

The two most profound reasons being:

  1. The AI in Cursor occasionally gives me great instructions that I'd love to document for later; things like deployment steps, architectural reasoning, considerations, etc.
  2. The conversations with Cursor tend to break from time to time. They. Just. Stop. Working. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Copying the chat from the IDE chat window properly seems impossible.

My solution:

The Cursor Convo Export extension

✅ Update 2025-02-06: Added HTML as output possibility, just use the command: Cursor: Export Cursor Chat History as HTML

✅ Update 2025-01-24 14:19 CET : version 1.0.2 properly fixes the bug causing 'command 'cursor-convo-export.exportChat' not found' error for both Windows and MacOS users.

⚠️ this is a Cursor AI specific extension, it doesn't work with VS Code but needs to be installed as extension in Cursor AI

This is a Cursor AI extension that lets you export your Cursor AI chat history to a new window or a timestamped file.

This is nice to have. Would appreciate having a feature that lets me bulk export a bunch of chats. Specifically I am wanting to export all of my chats for a given project/workspace.
